Our fifth track was released on April 13, 2025.
The latest song, “Teo Day-O,” is an homage to the legendary "Banana Boat Song."
Originally a Jamaican mento folk song, Banana Boat (also known as Day-O) was sung by dock workers loading bananas overnight, calling out to signal the arrival of morning and the end of their shift.
The most famous version was performed by Harry Belafonte in 1956, becoming a massive hit in the United States. Interestingly, the phrase "Day-O" is said to have roots in the West African Yoruba language, meaning “joy arrives”—marking the dawn after a night of labor.
This melody was later famously adapted into a cheer for Hideo Nomo, and now, I've reimagined it as a celebratory anthem for Dodgers star Teoscar Hernández.
